About your Facilitator:

Hi, I’m Dominika — founder and co-owner of Verde.

I launched my first business at 21, while raising two little ones (a one-year-old and a three-year-old!). Back then, I sold my artwork on eBay—right when it first launched—and that small start sparked a lifelong love of entrepreneurship. Running a business is empowering and gave me confidence, independence, and lifelong skills that continue to shape my journey today.

My passion for creativity led to a successful career in Art, during which I received several grants and awards and exhibited my work across Canada and Europe.

In 2009, I chose to step away from the art world and return to university for further studies. Not long after, I began working for the Province of Manitoba — a stable but creatively stifling role that left me craving something more fulfilling.

By 2014, I took a leap of faith, left my secure government job, and returned to my entrepreneurial roots. Since then, I’ve launched Verde opened a second location in Vancouver, moved to British Columbia, bought a home in the Southern Gulf Islands, and hosted guests for years at my modern forest Airbnb retreat.

Recently, I returned to Winnipeg to pivot our 10-year plant business into a new chapter: Verde Candle Bar, a hands-on scent blending experience that invites others to reconnect with creativity and sensory joy.
